1.2 Million School Girls receive training under Rani Laxmi Bai Aatma Raksha Prashikshan scheme.

India, like many other countries, faces challenges related to the safety of women and girls. Frequent instances of harassment, assault and violence are reported across the nation. Learning self-defense equips school-going girls with the skills and knowledge to protect themselves.

While societal norms are evolving, there is still a need for girls to be proactive in ensuring their safety. Self-defense education reinforces the idea that everyone has the right to live free from fear and violence.

There is an increasing awareness of the importance of self-defense, leading to the implementation of programs and initiatives across schools and communities by Government of India under Rani Laxmi Bai Atma Raksha Yojana. Under this programs, girl students receive martial arts training, encompassing various techniques derived from Judo, Taekwondo, Wushu, Boxing and Karate by certified trainers, over a period of 3 months.

SkillTree Consulting Pvt. Ltd. is the Project Implementation Partner for the above scheme in the state of Maharashtra. Recently, it conducted self-defense training for 12 lakh girls across 36 districts and 22201 schools in Maharashtra.

Self-defense training fosters a sense of empowerment among girls. It instills confidence, assertiveness and a proactive mindset, enabling them to navigate their surroundings with greater self-assurance.
