Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), NITI Aayog, and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) announced a new partnership under the Sustainable Access to Markets and Resources for Innovative Delivery of Healthcare (SAMRIDH) initiative, which will improve access to affordable and quality healthcare for vulnerable populations in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities, and rural and tribal regions.


Aim:

  • Enabling universal access to healthcare.
  • Enabling employability, employment and micro-entrepreneurship opportunities.
  • Training for critical job roles relevant to the Healthcare Sector, viz. Phlebotomy Technician, Dietetic Assistant and Telehealth Services Coordinator.
  • Creating high-impact healthcare solutions.
  • Aims to provide skills training to youths from underserved communities in the target areas, a special focus would be given to rural women and tribal youth to encourage them to take up entrepreneurship and wage linked opportunities to improve their community’s health as well as become financially independent.

Outreach of Project:

  • 5 districts across Maharashtra, Nashik, Pune, Amravati, Akola and Nagpur
  • 2,553 candidates
  • Certifications by Healthcare Sector Skill Council (HSSC)
  • Empowering underprivileged and marginalised communities through training in healthcare sector
  • Assistance in placement or entrepreneurship.

Progress report so far:

  • Out of the enrolled candidates,
    • 1,090 students have been trained and assessed till date and 600 are undergoing training
    • Recorded a passing rate of 97%, with 814 certified out of 841 candidates so far
    • Training, assessment and certification by Healthcare Sector Skill Council (HSSC) and National Skill Development Cooperation (NSDC)
    • Provided employment to 417 candidates.
